Dear President Obama: I have to admit it. My liberal friends were right....

They told me if I voted for McCain, the nation's Hope would deteriorate, and sure enough there has been a 20 point drop in the Consumer Confidence Index since the election, reaching a lower point than any time during the Bush administration.

They told me if I voted for McCain, the US would become more deeply embroiled in the Middle East, and sure enough tens of thousands of additional troops are scheduled to be deployed into Afghanistan.

They told me if I voted for McCain, that the economy would get worse and sure enough unemployment is approaching 10% and the new stimulus packages implemented recently have sent the stock market lower than at any time since 9-11

They told me if I voted for McCain, we would see more "crooks" in high ranking positions in Federal government and sure enough, several recent cabinet nominees and Senate appointments , LET ALONE the CHICAGO CRIMINALS, revealed resumes of bribery and tax fraud.

Well I ignored my Democrat friends in November and voted for McCain. And sure enough, they were right... all of their predictions have come true.

Dear President Obama: The evidence indicates you've lost your fricking mind.

The thought occurred to me in a rather frightening way, that you don't have someone like me at the table.

You don't have someone there who will look at you and tell you that what you want to do in a given situation, flat out, "stuck on stupid," wrong.

Or, as I would put it a bit more succinctly, "stupid... moronic... idiotic... irresponsible... short-sighted... damaging... dumber than a box of rocks... sheer, unadulterated idiocy."

As far back as the Ides of March with another tonedeaf leader in the past, EFFECTIVE leaders include those unimpressed with their positions, so they'll be told the truth.

The market is weighing in on your stupidity and interference, down almost 300 as I write this. Mr. President, you have no more idea on how to run GM then you do how to stop smoking... which, come to think of it, you ALSO don't know how to do... some example to our children YOU are.

How has GM stock responded to your arrogant idiocy? As of this writing, the stock is off 20%.

Now, Mr. President, companies around the world in all areas of business will be asking themselves: Am *I* going to get the call? Is this moron going to fire ME?

Mr. President, clearly, you know no more about running business then you do foreign policy. You're as clueless about this as you are the deficit.

And one thing I bet is this: You would never DARE fire the management of the autoworkers unions, would you?

Idiot.

Obama Outlines Plans for GM, Chrysler

WASHINGTON--Warning that they can't depend on unending taxpayer dollars, President Barack Obama on Monday gave General Motors Corp. and Chrysler LLC a brief window to craft plans that would justify fresh government loans.

[GM CEO Rick Wagoner] Associated Press

DETROIT IN CRISIS: The ouster of Rick Wagoner, shown at a February news conference, is a milestone in the state's intervention in the economy.

"We cannot, we must not, and we will not let our auto industry simply vanish," President Obama said at the White House.

"What we are asking is difficult," he said. "It will require hard choices by companies. It will require unions and workers who have already made painful concessions to make even more. It will require creditors to recognize that they cannot hold out for the prospect of endless government bailouts."

The remarks come a day after the administration ousted GM Chief Executive Rick Wagoner and rejected the restructuring plans that GM and Chrysler had hoped would lead to another infusion of government cash. Instead, the White House is giving GM 60 days to come up with a strategy for viability. Chrysler has a month to wrap up a partnership with Italy's Fiat SpA.

General Motors Corp. (GM) is expected to hold a news conference Tuesday morning to respond to the White House's rejection of the auto maker's restructuring plan, a person familiar with the plans said.

The administration says a "surgical" structured bankruptcy may be the only way forward for GM and Chrysler, and President Obama held out that prospect Monday.

"I know that when people even hear the word 'bankruptcy,' it can be a bit unsettling, so let me explain what I mean," he said. "What I am talking about is using our existing legal structure as a tool that, with the backing of the U.S. government, can make it easier for General Motors and Chrysler to quickly clear away old debts that are weighing them down so they can get back on their feet and onto a path to success; a tool that we can use, even as workers are staying on the job building cars that are being sold."

The firms, hobbled by the economic downturn and years of reliance on sport-utility vehicles, will receive an unspecified amount of working capital from the government while they hone their new plans.

Dear President Obama: Why haven't YOU stopped the flooding in Fargo?

This is a very good question.

My God, when New Orleans experienced sprinkles, the leftist scum out there DEMANDED to know what Bush had done something. They wanted to know why he hadn't redeployed National Guard troops from Iraq, brought in the entire US Navy, and how ANY of this could have happened.

Bush was blamed for EVERYTHING.

He was blamed for the hurricane itself by the leftist algorebots.

He was blamed for the condition of the dikes and levies.

He was blamed for the police looting the stores.

He was blamed for the mishandling of everything from prisoners to hospital patients.

He was blamed for every emergency failure imaginable... almost as if the states and cities hadn't existed as entities. New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagan's rampant bigotry and racism were immediately forgiven.

But to this day, we've not heard the end of New Orleans, including the moron set who actually told us that Bush had BLOWN UP THE LEVIES.

Now, Fargo is in the process of dissolving. Where are the media hounding you?

How come they're not dogging you like they did Bush?

How come all those concerns expressed by your fellow leftist loons when Bush was in office are unheard of now?

HOW COULD YOU HAVE LET THIS HAPPEN?

Is THIS the Change we're supposed to believe in?

Why hasn't Bambi saved Fargo?

So, apparently Fargo has been flooding. News to me. Supposedly, the Red River rests around 13' - and is now over 40' and looking to crest. I've seen a few photos - flooded streets, destroyed houses, etc. Terrible, terrible stuff.

But you know what? I'm a little ticked off with the citizens of Fargo. I mean, my god man - quit trying to steal the thunder out from the Hurricane Katrina victims. This year is about CHANGE. We VOTED IN OBAMA. Don't come crying to us with your sob stories about ineffectual government prevention of natural disasters. We only pull that shit on Republicans.

We all know that within a day or two, Obama is going to fly in on his magical unicorn and use his superpowers to pull them out of whatever predicament they're in. At least, that's what he promised us in his campaign speeches. And Democrats always tell the truth.

I mean, it IS the President's job to prevent this sort of thing, isn't it? We absolutely reamed Dubya for it, right? So, where's Bambi and his endless supply of FEMA teams? Heck, where's Kanye West accusing the President of hating white people (Fargo IS primarily white, isn't it?) Isn't Bambi's complete inaction ABSOLUTE PROOF of his clear and overt racism? Or is that just asinine in and of itself?

You might think I'm being facetious - but I'm really not. Now, granted, I gave up following the news for Lent, so I haven't really been paying attention - but this is actually the very first I've ever even HEARD of flooding trouble in Fargo, threatened levees, etc. And I can't help but wonder why.

When it was New Orleans, you couldn't flip through the channels without getting at least four of them reporting on A) the terrible calamity about to occur; and B) the failure of the Executive Branch to do anything about it (even though it's not their job.) Today, the Top Stories on MSNBC are with regard to the Space Shuttle and (I shit you not) "Diners can 'have a ball' at testicle festival." Front page at the New York Times? Immigration and health care. The headline on Yahoo's front page is about Miley freakin' Cyrus. Where are the 24-7 live-feed videos of the floodwaters over people's homes? Where are the left-wing celebrities decrying the failure of the federal government?

Don't you find it just the least bit odd that when floodwaters are rising and people are in jeopardy, that the nation, the president, and media outlets are suddenly silent - when only less than half a decade ago, people wanted to see someone from the national administration hang for it?

Why is it that when people's homes and lives are threatened by natural disaster, it's OK to blame Republicans for it; but when it's a Democrat sitting in the big chair, we barely even know it's happening? To add insult to injury is the fact that your fledgling, doe-eyed president made so much reference to the "suffering of New Orleans" in order to gain the pity vote. Yet, I don't see him out there bailing water with a bucket, do you?

"Change," he said. Yet, from where I'm sitting, it looks like exactly the same thing.

Dear President Obama: More lies: "Electricity rates would necessarilly have to skyrocket." But you didn't say that last night.

MORE lies, Mr. President?

During the campaign, you said:

The problem is not technical, and the problem is not sufficient mastery of the legislative intricacies of Washington.

The problem is can you get the American people to say this is really important and force their representatives to do the right thing? That requires mobilizing a citizenry. That requires them understanding what is at stake, and climate change is a great example.

When I was asked earlier about the issue of coal…under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket…even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad, because I’m capping greenhouse gasses, coal power plants, natural gas…you name it…whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retro-fit their operations. That will cost money…they will pass that money on to the consumers. You can already see what the arguments are going to be during the general election. People will say Obama and Al Gore …these folks...they're going to destroy the economy.

This is going to cost us 8 trillion dollars or whatever their number is. If you can’t persuade the American people that, yes, there is going to be some increase on electricity rates on the front end, but that over the long term, because of combinations of more efficient energy usage and changing light bulbs and more efficient appliances, but also technology improving how we can produce clean energy that the economy will benefit.

If we can’t make that argument persuasively enough, you can be Lyndon Johnson. You can be the master of Washington. You’re not gonna get that done.

The problem is that you said something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT last night:

When it comes to cap-and-trade, the broader principle is that we've got to
move to a new energy era, and that means moving away from polluting energy
sources towards cleaner energy sources. That is a potential engine for economic
growth.

I think cap-and-trade is the best way, from my perspective, to achieve some of those gains, because what it does is it starts pricing the pollution that's being sent into the atmosphere.

The way it's structured has to take into account regional differences. It has to protect consumers from huge spikes in electricity prices. So there are a lot of technical issues that are going to have to be sorted through.

Mr. President, it seems that in every day... in every way, more of your lies are coming to the surface.

Isn't it about time for you to stop?

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Dear President Obama: Your lies on the deficit just... keep... coming.

I may have mentioned a word... or two... or thousands... concerning the lies and the deficit and the Intergenerational Indebtedness Act and the TRILLIONS in debt you've burying us under.

Mr. President, when you told us you would "cut the budget deficit by half before the end of your term," you were, again, LYING.

During YOUR campaign... you REPEATEDLY fired at President Bush over his irresponsibility due to his Budget Deficits.

Well, here's a simple graphic that lays it all out. Here's a simple picture that shows how you're working SOOOOOO hard to destroy our economy:

Even presuming that your rather self-serving numbers are correct (and while there is a great number of reasons why YOU would lie, there does not appear to be all that many for the CBO to lie) the horrific damage YOU will do to this country under EITHER scenario cannot be overstated.

Mr. President, You're a reasonably bright guy... for a child of Affirmative Action and the "subtle racism of low expectations."

Are you SURROUNDED by sycophants? Is there ANYONE around you with the balls to tell you you're out of your fricking MIND? Do you have SOMEONE, ANYONE there to keep you off Fantasy Island?

Do you GET that these are OUR LIVES YOU'RE SCREWING AROUND WITH?

We were all better off when you were mainlining whatever it was when you were smoking that dope.

Under your scenario, the value of the dollar will likely be crushed. We risk hyper-inflation, and because of your inability to get past your fringe-left wing neanderthal political perspective, we will be paying unheard of amounts for energy... even though the use of our current energy stores SHOULD be a priority as part of a COMPREHENSIVE energy program, including fossil, hydro, wind, solar and tide to MAKE US ENERGY SELF-SUFFICIENT.

How much is a gallon of gasoline going to cost us; if we can find such a thing; under YOUR "brilliant" handling of the economy, and your rank, amateur handling of foreign policy? (What have YOU done to sell out Poland today?)

Mr. President, both Russia AND China are going to make efforts to ditch the dollar as the international reserve currency.

And who can blame them?

As horrifying as that thought is to me, personally, your colossal MISHANDLING of our economy in such an amazingly short time makes their efforts the ONLY logical outcome.

Imagine... China, which at $2 TRILLION holds the most foreign exchange reserves, is beating down the value of those same dollars by making these observations internationally... does so knowing full well that the drop of the value of the dollar by ONE CENT represents the drop of the value of their reserves by that same 1/100th... or TWENTY BILLION DOLLARS.

But China, like everyone else, looks at their piles of paper and they ask themselves this question: With a clueless moron running the American economy, what is this pile of paper going to be worth when he's done?

Mr. President, these people are clearly voting with their feet. If THEY see a light at the end of the tunnel, they believe, as does the CBO and most other people not in love with the neo-com philosophy, that it's attached to a train.

OTHERWISE, they'd be digging in for the long hall, KNOWING that they'll come out much farther ahead if they just hang on to their dollars until we get this ship you're working overtime to capsize, righted.

Thank you SO much for setting us up for disaster, Mr. President. While you're doing a DAMNED fine job on your promise of "CHANGE," you are TOTALLY screwing the pooch on the "HOPE" part of your platform of lies.

Idiot.

Sunday, March 22, 2009

Dear President Obama: Here's the Cliff's Notes on your lobbyist lies.

Mr. President, your shameless lies are right up there with your shameless incompetence.

I've already dough-popped you on the issue of your rank lies over hiring lobbyists for positions in your Administration. It was just one of many lies you spewed to get elected, but I thought I'd take this opportunity to provide the Cliff's Notes version for easy reference.

BTW, Mr. President? It's NOT that you hired lobbyists. After all, lobbyists are not the same thing as "dope-smoking fly bait," and YOU were hired as PRESIDENT!

No... it's that, like on so many other things, you felt compelled to lie to us about it. And that sir, ain't EITHER the Hope, OR the Change we were told we were going to get.

This is where Republicans in the Pacific NW can come to share ideas, news and of course read those of our distinguished stable of contributors

Candidate Obama:

"I have done more to take on lobbyists than any other candidate in this race - and I've won. I don't take a dime of their money, and when I am President, they won't find a job in my White House."

National Journal:

a National Journal look at 267 Obama nominees and appointees found that at least 30 — or about 11 percent — have been registered lobbyists at some point during the past five years.

Among them are some top officials: Attorney General Eric Holder was registered as a lobbyist at Covington & Burling as recently as 2004; Tom Vilsack, the former Iowa governor who is Obama's Agriculture secretary, was a registered lobbyist for the National Education Association in 2007; Ron Klain, chief of staff to Vice President Biden, was a lobbyist at O'Melveny & Myers until 2004; and David Hayes, deputy secretary of the Interior, was a lobbyist at Latham & Watkins through 2006.

Dear President Obama: Here's the new Great Seal of the Teleprompter of the United States

Dear President Obama: I guess we can add "transparency" to your mountain of lies.

You remember your lie list, don't you, Mr. President?

You lied about "lobbyists in the White House: you've appointed at least 30 with a lobbyist background.

You lied about earmarks when you said you'd "go through the budget line by line:" your last budget had a paltry 9000 earmarks.

You lied about drawing down the troops in Iraq: you've pulled out one Stryker Brigade... only to quietly replace it with another... but you haven't talked about that.

You lied about bankruptcy with your false claim:

"The cost of health care now causes a bankruptcy in America every 30 seconds. By
the end of the year, it could cause 1.5 million Americans to lose their homes,"
You lied about how much oil we import:

"We have known for decades that our survival depends on finding new sources of
energy. Yet we import more oil today than ever before."

We are currently importing at LEAST 400,000,000 barrels LESS now than we were in 2005.

You lied when you said: "We have already identified $2 trillion in savings over the next decade."

Estimates for the deficit THIS YEAR ALONE range as high as $2 trillion, with YEARLY TRILLION DOLLAR DEFICITS PROJECTED FOR THE NEXT DECADE.

And your latest lie?

Mr. President, it looks like we're reaching the point where we can pretty much conclude that everything you said during your campaign was a lie. And to that ever-lengthening list we can now add your latest casualty: Transparency.

There's just something... well... "scummy" about you keeping the media out of a ceremony where you're getting some sort of media award.

But then, there's something "scummy" about your entire Administration... so I guess the calculation was made that a little more scum wouldn't make any difference, eh, Mr. President?

Obama White House bars press from press award ceremony

The White House behind a fence

We are not making this up:

Barack Obama was elected commander in chief promising to run the most transparent presidential administration in American history.

This achievement and the overall promise of his historic administration caused the National Newspaper Publishers Assn. to name him "Newsmaker of the Year."

The president is to receive the award from the federation of black community newspapers in a White House ceremony this afternoon.

The Obama White House has closed the press award ceremony to the press.

From the president's official schedule:

"Later in the afternoon, the President and the First Lady will attend a reception with the National Newspaper Publisher Association in the State Dining Room, where they will be presented the Newsmaker of the Year award. This event is closed press."

Maybe they'll let the newspaper people pass the award through the fence.

Dear President Obama: Now that you've confirmed your bigotry, shouldn't you be sentenced to sensitivity training?

Mr. President, those of us paying attention have known you're a bigot for quite some time now. That garbage you ladled out at the San Francisco fund raiser where you whined about us'n po' folk "clinging to us'ns guns and religion."

So, taking away your teleprompter again serves us with a pathway into the real you.

Your idiocy on Leno last night will live on forever.

But the idea that The One... the messiah... Our First Half African-American President (tm) could also be a bigot for everyone to see?

Priceless.

You make me ashamed of you.

This isn't the only thing that does it, of course. Your rank incompetence... your abysmal personnel choices... that entire mountain range of debt you've heaped on us so you could pay off your buddies... that monsterous effort you made to dishonor the Veterans... all of those things help as well.

Just thought you'd want to know.

Thursday, March 19, 2009

Dear President Obama: Can there BE a more WORTHLESS statement then : "I take full responsibility?"

Mr. President, I've been asking you to actually step up and put your job on the line. In this post, I laid out my request in the simplest of terms, and you apparently decided that your lies couldn't be backed up.

And then, you pulled out the old, time worn saw about "taking full responsibility" for the AIG debacle. (Although, I AM confused as to whether or not that was before... or after... you again blamed Bush for Dodd's lies and this whole mess) so, I thought I'd ask you: exactly what does the phrase "I take full responsibility" mean, exactly?

Bill Clinton made that one of the most utterly worthless phrases in politics. When the act of taking that "responsibility" doesn't result in any personal, negative consequence to the person TAKING that responsibility... then precisely what the hell good is it?

I mean... you didn't cut off a little finger like they do when they fail in the Yakuza in Japan, did you?

You haven't told that criminal tax cheat you appointed to the Treasury to fine you any amount of your pay, have you?

And you haven't done the right thing, the honorable thing and resigned, have you?

So, except for looking like an arrogant moron... precisely WHAT DID you accomplish with that bogus little passion play?

In other words, Mr. President: when an empty suit "Takes responsibility?" It's a joke.

Spare us. This is getting less and less funny.

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

Dear Mr. President: How many more tax criminals are you going to appoint?

So, the Senate of the United States confirmed yet another of your tax cheat buddies, democrat Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk, in yet another important position within your Administration.

So tell me, Mr. President: do you actually get MORE points if you're a tax criminal when it comes to your appointments? I mean, you and that idiot Geithner are all about enforcing the tax laws... except when they apply to your appointees.

Then... not so much.

So, criminal tax cheating is OK with you, right, Mr. President? What about rape? What about axe-murder? In fact, what, exactly, would it take for someone not to make the cut to go to work for you?

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Senate voted overwhelmingly on Wednesday to approve former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk to be U.S. trade representative, three months after President Barack Obama tapped him for the job.

Kirk enters office at a time when world economic woes have sharply cut U.S. exports and global trade is expected to contract this year for the first time since 1982.

The Texas Democrat told senators he would focus more on making sure other countries live up to commitments they have made under existing trade agreements than on negotiating new deals to open markets to U.S. exports.

Many believe that signals an increase in the number of cases the United States will bring against China and other trading partners at the World Trade Organization.

Action on Kirk's nomination took a back seat to work in Congress on economic bills and nominees to higher-priority posts.

The Senate voted 92-5 to approve Kirk, despite errors in his tax returns that required him and his wife to write checks to the Internal Revenue Service this month for $7,785.

Dear President Obama: Knock off the Fake Outrage NOW

Mr. President, you ARE responsible. This has NOTHING to do with President Bush, you lying oaf.

All of this is on YOUR watch. YOU own it.

As much as it sucks, your incompetence has boxed us into a messy corner... and now, you can't do a damned thing about it, and neither can Congress.

The Constitution will NOT allow it. Look up "Bill of Attainder" and "Ex Post Facto law."

You allegedly TAUGHT Constitutional law... so it's not like you and all those scrambling roaches in Congress don't KNOW that any effort like that will be tossed out in the first Federal Court it gets to.

PLEASE, Mr. President. STOP. STOP thinking we're all idiots, and that you can confuse us with motion disguised as action.

You see, Mr. President, it was YOUR moronic demand that this pig be voted out WITHOUT ANYONE READING IT that caused this. Had we had the time... say the 3 days or so that thing sat rotting on your desk before you actually got around to signing this "crisis" garbage, issues like this one would have been ferreted out BEFORE the morons running the show voted on it.

YOU are to blame, Mr. President. You and Tweedle Dumb (Reid) and Tweedle Dumber (Pelosi).

So STOW your FAKE fricking outrage. Fess up. You even said the "responsibility is yours," AFTER you AGAIN tried to blame the Bush Administration.

GOD only knows what other "surprises" you may have in store for us that you wouldn't allow us to discover before you and your fellow leftists rammed this garbage sack down our throats.

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

Dear President Obama: Spare us the fake outrage.

Mr. President, it was YOU who rammed the porkulus down our throats without even letting anyone read it.

And it was YOU who received over $101,000 in campaign contributions from the AIG Products Division.

In OTHER words, Mr. President, you will play billy hell blaming Bush for THIS one, you idiot.

Obama Received a $101,332 Bonus from AIG

Senator Barack Obama received a $101,332 bonus from American International Group in the form of political contributions according to Opensecrets.org. The two biggest Congressional recipients of bonuses from the A.I.G. are - Senators Chris Dodd and Senator Barack Obama.

The A.I.G. Financial Products affiliate of A.I.G. gave out $136,928, the most of any AIG affiliate, in the 2008 cycle. I would note that A.I.G.’s financial products division is the unit that wrote trillions of dollars’ worth of credit-default swaps and “misjudged” the risk.

The Washington Post reports a “mob effect” at A.I.G financial products division:

A tidal wave of public outrage over bonus payments swamped American International Group yesterday. Hired guards stood watch outside the suburban Connecticut offices of AIG Financial Products, the division whose exotic derivatives brought the insurance giant to the brink of collapse last year. Inside, death threats and angry letters flooded e-mail inboxes. Irate callers lit up the phone lines. Senior managers submitted their resignations. Some employees didn’t show up at all.

Dear President Obama: Here's why the military loaths you (III) Is there some reason you won't listen?

Mr. President, I've tried to be as patient with you when it comes to you screwing up my country; as empty a suit who has ever lived in the White House; as possible.

I've tried to tell you that your multiple snubs of the Military are having a damaging impact across the board in our confidence in you as Commander and Chief.

From the contempt you exhibit, consciously or unconsciously, every time you "salute" as you leave the chopper, or step out of our 747; from blowing off our wounded kids so you could go shoot hoops in Landstuhl because DOD would not let you use their blood and pain as a campaign prop, to blowing off the Medal of Honor Ball at your inauguration... to this.

Your complete betrayal of every veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States.

Mr. President, you're skating on increasingly thin political ice. You see, you're starting to worry that the bloom is falling off the rose. And in that much, you're absolutely right.

When you were in, oh, about 4th grade, I was raising my hand to enlist in the United States Army.

As a part of that contract (yeah, I know... your moronic idea to continue to pump billions of our dollars into AIG has turned just the tiniest bit unpleasant with that bonus thing and all... but allegedly, a contract is a contract.) the government promised to take care of me, "from the tip of my toes to the top of my head, FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE," the recruiter said.

It was during that little tiff in Southeast Asia, Mr. President. You might have heard of the Vietnam War? I was 17, you son of a bitch. In fact, I just got my high school diploma... 37 years after I became a 16 year old senior.

And now, you're going to take that promise away from me, Mr. President? You're going to violate the word of the Government of the United States to me and the millions of others that strapped on a uniform to protect dumb shits like you, Mr. President.

See, Mr. President... this is the risk we run by serving our country. Some civilian dumb ass comes along, never set foot in uniform because he's a selfish bastard that thinks he's OWED something... and when we're done in the Military, we run the risk of someone like you... someone utterly without a clue... someone who has NO IDEA what it is to sacrifice for their country... someone like you coming along and taking it all away... so we can go back to the days of "Vets and dogs, Keep off the grass."

And that's why we're starting to loath you, Mr. President.

It's because you loath us.

And this silly-assed effort to screw us long after we served to, among others, keep YOU safe is going to cost you in the end.

Soon, Mr. President, people will begin to see you the way we see you. Every day, you're pealing off another layer... and another and another. Your leadership has been a disaster for this country and you just got here.

Senator Murray TOLD you this idiotic plan was dead on arrival. That your lackey Shinseki hasn't rammed his resignation down your arrogant throat is all I need to know about that gutless sellout as well.

Mr. President, this is by no means the "Change" I can "Believe in."

In fact... it's just the opposite.

The American Legion Strongly Opposed to President's Plan to Charge Wounded Heroes for Treatment

WASHINGTON, March 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The leader of the nation's largest veterans organization says he is "deeply disappointed and concerned" after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. The Obama administration recently revealed a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in such cases.

"It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan," said Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion. "He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it."

The Commander, clearly angered as he emerged from the session said, "This reimbursement plan would be inconsistent with the mandate ' to care for him who shall have borne the battle' given that the United States government sent members of the armed forces into harm's way, and not private insurance companies. I say again that The American Legion does not and will not support any plan that seeks to bill a veteran for treatment of a service connected disability at the very agency that was created to treat the unique need of America's veterans!"

Dear President Obama: Why did the military seem to really like Bush... and really, well, NOT like you?

Of course, after your recent idiocy in actually, seriously considering requiring service members to pay for their own medical care when wounded/injured on active duty, your idiotic handling of the Landstuhl incident and the utter stupidity of your bailing out on the Medal of Honor Ball on your inauguration, it's not all that clear that you give a damn, but I believe that, once again, BLACKFIVE has the answer:

a single promise to a single soldier

The President and First Lady were rendered Full Honors at their Farewell Ceremony from our military on January 6th. Below is a transcript of the comments of the Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates.

Armed Forces Farewell to the President of the United States (Arlington, VA)
As Delivered by Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates, Arlington, VA, Tuesday, January 06, 2009
Thank you, Admiral Mullen.
Some of you of a certain generation might remember a line from the John Wayne movie “Red River,” an epic story of a thousand-mile cattle drive across Texas. At one point, one of the characters says: “There’s three times in a man’s life when he has the [a] right to yell at the moon: when he marries, when his children come, and when he finishes a job he had to be crazy to start.” Well, before President Bush finishes this job, I’m pleased to have this chance – on behalf of the United States military – to pay tribute to our Commander in Chief and give him proper thanks.
The legacy of George W. Bush in matters of war and peace began taking form more than a year before he first took the oath of office. In the fall of 1999, then-Governor Bush gave a speech at the Citadel titled “A Period of Consequences.” He observed that nearly a decade after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the U.S. military was still organized more for Cold War threats than for the challenges of a new century – what he called “an era of car bombers and plutonium merchants and cyber terrorists and drug cartels and unbalanced dictators – all the unconventional and invisible threats of new technologies and old hatreds.”
On a bright Tuesday morning in September, eight months into President Bush’s first term, we learned how dangerous and unpredictable this new era could be, and saw in the starkest terms how necessary was the task of transforming the American defense establishment to meet these challenges.
It was a task inspired by the vision of President Bush, propelled by the energetic advocacy of Secretary Rumsfeld, informed by the experience of our senior military leaders, and accelerated by the urgent demands of two unconventional ground wars. The result is an American military that has become more agile, lethal, and prepared to deal with the full spectrum of 21st century conflict – and, on a personal note, a force that is dramatically more deployable and expeditionary than when I last served in government 15 years ago.

Much, much more here:

Dear President Obama: "The Russians are coming! The Russians are coming!" Now, what are you going to do about it?

So, I pop on over to Drudge this a.m., and imagine my surprise, consternation and outright fear when I read THIS:

INTERFAX:
08:32 GMT Russian strategic bombers could use Cuban airfields during patrolling missions - Air Force official...
07:57 GMT Chavez offers Venezuelan island to be used by Russian strategic bombers - Russian Air Force official...
'We are prepared to fly there'...

CUBA, VENEZUELA MAY HOST RUSSIAN BOMBERS

Now, Mr. President.... I have WARNED you that others are viewing your competency... or, in your case, your utter lack of competency, in strategic terms as to what you will or will not do.

Either one of these developments are absolutely unacceptable.

Do you hear me, Mr. President? Is anybody home?

You mean YOUR the one who's gonna answer the phone at 3:00 a.m.?

Looks like I'd better start digging my bomb shelter right about now.

Mr. President, your children notwithstanding, you've shown a decided lack of testicles since it became our great misfortune to have you assume the Office of the President. The non-existent "Office of the President-Elect" was bad enough.

And now, what I KNEW was going to happen... and what even that doddering old fool Biden SAID would happen... is happening.

The question is this: What are you going to do about it?

You see, Mr. president, you really have no choice.

YOU CANNOT ALLOW RUSSIAN AIR BASES IN OUR HEMISPHERE.

YOU CANNOT ALLOW RUSSIAN AIR BASES 50 MILES OFF OUR COAST.

YOU CANNOT STRENGTHEN CHAVEZ BY ALLOWING HIM TO TURN VENEZUELA INTO A SOVIET-STYLE SATELLITE.

Now, these things are self-evident to anyone able to walk upright and chew bubble gum. But I really haven't heard much from you about this.

What's the problem? You too busy planning your "Obama fiddles while the US burns" parties?

Now, this is one of two things: a genuine attempt to expand the sphere of Russian hegemony... or it's a straw man being set up so you can ride to the rescue and establish that you are, in fact, possessed of sufficient reproductive capability to do more than make babies.

Either way, Mr. President, this time, silence ain't golden.

Play time is over, Mr. President. Be a MAN for once, and put a stop to this.

Dear President Obama: Your reached unheard of heights of hypocrisy today: Earmarks.

So... let me get this straight:

You ran on a platform of ending earmarks. You remember, don't you, Mr. President? "Change we can believe in," and all that garbage?

So... what happened to that "go through the budget line by line" lie of yours, eh?

NOW, you tell us that when it comes to earmarks you: "...oppose their outright elimination."

Sorry, Mr. President... but could you direct us to which part of your campaign covered THAT?

So, you sneak around behind closed doors to sign this crap pile... no video... no wonderful speeches.

And now, you slink out like a drunk and tell us that this steaming pile of 9000 earmarks, including the garbage REPUBLICAN earmarks, is THE last drink you're EVER going to take... and that FAKE "change" will happen the VERY NEXT TIME.

You're a liar, Mr. President. You don't have the testicular fortitude to face down the leftists morons running the Congressional show. But I'm sure that watching you tap dance around your explanation as to why you lied to us will be extremely entertaining.

And you'll use the RINOs (Who also should be tossed out of office) to get the votes.

So, Mr. President, do us a favor and stop lying. Just come right out and tell us you were lying in your campaign; that you were counting on the ignorant and the gullible to get you elected... and they delivered in spades.

God, Mr. President. I am so unbelievably SICK of your lies. When will you EVER tell us the truth?

Dear President Obama: Here's why the military loaths you (II) You and Shinseki are selling us out-vets to pay for treatment.

Of your many boneheaded, idiotic, moronic, empty-suited moves, this one HAS to be the topper.

You, Sir, are an ignorant son of a bitch. Seriously. And that General Shinseki would join with you in your efforts to sell us out... makes you BOTH two of the most loathsome, slimy creatures it has ever been my disgust to ponder.

What, might the reader ask, has me ready to blow my cork?

Well, believe it or not, the Moron in Chief wants us to pay for our own injuries suffered on active duty.

I.... words.... there are no adequate words I can possibly summon to express my utter disgust.

My son will be 18 in 7 months. When I was his age, I was on the East German Border with a rifle in my hands. I was an 11D (Now a 19D) "Armored Reconnaissance Scout" (Now Cav Scout... because, after all, who the hell can possibly spell "reconnaissance?")

He wants to be a Marine. Badly. A moment ago, I interrupted this, called him in and showed this information to him and I told him:

"Don't... fucking... do it."

"Don't. This is the man you'd be carrying a rifle for. And he will sell you out in a minute. Don't.... fucking... do it. There are many ways to risk your life for your country... but not THIS way.... not when this evil son of a bitch and his lackeys would even CONSIDER doing something like this."

Years in the military. An extensive database of cuss words and insults... and NOTHING in the rolodex adequately covers this disgrace.

Mr. President, WHAT INSURANCE COMPANY WOULD POSSIBLY INSURE SOMEONE GOING TO A COMBAT ZONE? Is it any wonder that our military hates you?

Blackfive, once again, get's the nod for the H/T.

Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki confirmed Tuesday that the Obama administration is considering a controversial a plan to make veterans pay for treatment of service-related injuries with private insurance.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki confirmed Tuesday that the Obama administration is considering a controversial plan to make veterans pay for treatment of service-related injuries with private insurance, but was told by lawmakers that it would be "dead on arrival" if sent to Congress.

Washington Sen. Patty Murray used that blunt terminology, telling Shinseki that the idea would not be acceptable and would be rejected if formally proposed. She made the remarks during a Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs hearing about the 2010 budget.

No official proposal to create such a program has been announced publicly, but veterans groups wrote a pre-emptive letter last week to President Obama opposing the idea after hearing the plan was under consideration. The groups also noticed an increase in “third-party collections” estimated in the 2010 budget proposal—something they said could only be achieved if the VA started billing for service-related injuries.

Asked about the proposal, Shinseki said it was under "consideration."

"A final decision hasn't been made yet," he said.

A second senator, North Carolina Republican Richard Burr, said he agreed that the idea should not go forward.

"I think you will give that up" as a revenue stream, if it is included in this April's budget, Burr said.

Dear President Obama: Here's an example of why the military loaths you.

In the day when you were a Senate back-bencher, and any original thought died of loneliness in your head, you had this to say:

Why on earth would ANYONE want to join the Armed Forces when their Commander in Chief well sell them out for power?

Dear President Obama: Yesterday, I asked the question - Do I want you to fail? Today, it turns out you already have.

I want to congratulate you, Mr. President, for gaining the rating as the worst president in American history when it comes to our economy.

I've got to tell you that I was sure that your fellow democrat waste of skin, Jimmy Carter, would hold that particular honor in perpetuity. But as bad as Carter was (and he was indescribably bad) your incompetence has easily surpassed him by a country mile.

Here's what your meddling with the free market has accomplished in the short time your presence has tarnished our history:

Since then, the market hasn't just gotten worse — it's turned in its worst performance ever for a new president.
The.

Worst.

Performance.

Ever.

I'm pretty sure that this is NOT the "Change" we're supposed to believe in.

Mr. President, I've always thought of you as a bright guy. You're in WAY over your head, of course, but that doesn't make you a total dolt.

Now.... now the vote is in, and your efforts have been a complete and utter failure.

The breadth and depth of the damage you've caused this country in such a short time is breathtaking. You, personally, are responsible for the loss of uncounted billions of dollars in retirement funds, 401K's and major investments.

I GET that you're doing everything you can to increase reliance on government programs. That's certainly part of the income redistribution and socialism program you're implementing. Kind of a modern-day Robin Hood... except, you're also the Sheriff of Nottingham.

To be successful, Mr. President, you can be one... or the other... but not both.

The problem is that we're caught in the middle of those two identities. And we're bleeding all over because of it.

Stockholders have lost $1.4 trillion during the young administration.
$1.4.

TRILLION.

So, in addition to burying us in trillions of dollars of debt, your fine administration of our economy has cost us additional hundreds of billions of dollars.

You're in charge, Mr. President. Your incessant whining that you "inherited" this mess is not what we need... and it's unbecoming. It shows weakness, and the almost genetic leftist trait of an inability to accept responsibility. The problem is that I know your dirty little secret:

If your actions had actually made something positive happen... if you had managed to end the arterial bleeding you've caused and turn this slow-motion train wreck you started around... you WOULD be taking ALL of the credit for it... and making a ton of political capital because of it.

Instead, you give us a clueless, planless, tax-dodging Treasury Secretary that no one seems to want to work for.

You're making ME assume responsibility for those dumb enough to take out mortgages there was no way they could pay, or in the alternative, responsibility for the actions of predatory lenders.

You WANT us to spend money, but you're vacuuming it out of the economy as fast as you can; causing government printing presses to burn out at a record rate; denuding entire forests to print money that we don't have.

As a small-businessman, you've eliminated any security I may have... you've destroyed any realistic long range planning. Your ineptitude FORCES us to become totally conservative in our expenditures... and because you've hammered the economy, my clients have been forced to cut back... and consultants are rightfully on the chopping block.

You see, Mr. President... no consultant can overcome your plan or your actions. You've torn the wing off the plane that is our economy... and at this point, all we can do is to prepare for the inevitable crash.

Several years ago, we here in Washington State had a battle over an Initiative, 695, that if passed, would have shut off a huge revenue source by applying a flat fee to yearly car tabs while requiring a vote for any tax or fee increase.

The sponsor of the Initiative turned in hundreds of thousands of signatures, shattering the previous record by something on the order of 200,000. It was clear to a blind man that this Initiative would pass.

Our governor (Who is now, come to think of it, YOUR Commerce Secretary designate) had the option of holding a special session to provide an alternative option to vote on... or do nothing at all.

It was one of the sponsors who put it best: "The Governor has the choice of landing the plane with the wheels up, or flying it directly into the ground."

Like you, he flew the plane directly into the ground... and he did nothing. So, instead of a gradual phase in of this massive revenue cut, government had to quit cold-turkey. Programs were slashed... taxes were increased in other areas... remarkably similar to what our state, facing an $8 billion plus deficit is trying to do now.

So you see, Mr. President, I am not going to spend any money because I'm afraid you'll put me out of business. And nothing you've done has convinced me... the market... our economy that you have a plan besides burying us in debt (Losses in the stock market equate, so far, to roughly $4400 for each man, woman and child in the country... not bad for a 7 week tenure.)

Your number one duty is to do no harm. Stop it, Mr. President. Get somebody in there that has a clue.

We've bled enough.

Stocks turn in worst performance for new president

The Dow Jones industrial average has fallen 21 percent during President Obama's first seven weeks in office. Count back to Election Day and the results are even bleaker: a loss of 32 percent.

The Associated Press

NEW YORK — The election of Barack Obama offered the promise of a new set of fixes for the financial crisis and the economy, a do-over that might help nurse the stock market back to health.

Since then, the market hasn't just gotten worse — it's turned in its worst performance ever for a new president.

The Dow Jones industrial average has fallen 21 percent during Obama's first seven weeks in office. Count back to Election Day and the results are even bleaker: That afternoon, the Dow closed at 9,625. Now it stands at 6,547, a loss of 32 percent.

Is this the Obama bear market? Or hangover from the Bush administration?

Some investors blame the slow-motion crash on Wall Street's disappointment with the government's $787 billion stimulus plan, its seemingly endless bailouts and the lack of specifics on how to rid banks of toxic assets.

Others say Obama inherited a recession destined to become the worst since World War II. And they note the market was already in awful shape at the tail end of the Bush administration, down 44 percent from the market's 2007 peak to Inauguration Day.

Either way, Wall Street has not exactly rolled out the welcome mat for Obama. Stockholders have lost $1.4 trillion during the young administration.

"There's not much evidence that anything is working," said Hugh Johnson, chairman of Johnson Illington Advisors. "Investors are waiting to see some results from these grand plans, and they don't see them yet."

Obama still has the nation's support — a 67 percent job-approval rating, according to a recent Associated Press-GfK poll. But Americans are racing nevertheless to pull money out of stocks. In the week ended March 4, nearly $30 billion was removed from stock mutual funds, according to TrimTabs Investment Research.

It is far from the only time investors have refused to grant a new president a honeymoon.

Before Obama, the worst Dow performance for the first seven weeks of a new administration was an 18 percent plunge in 1974 after Gerald Ford was sworn in, during a severe bear market triggered by the Arab oil crisis.

Dear President Obama: Do I WANT you to fail?

What say I prevaricate just the tiniest bit.

What say I conclude that I don't give a damn whether YOU, personally, fail or not.

What I DO care about succeeding is my country. You see, Mr. President, I need to state the obvious: my country is so much more important than you are.

Rahm the Slam is attempting to orchestrate some sort of campaign... using Federal dollars and Federal facilities to orchestrate a lie.

All of that said, let me express my concerns to you.

See, for the past 6 or 7 years or so, you people on the left have been entertaining us with the bizarre concept that YOU can "support the troops" while doing everything you can to screw up their mission.

As long as I'm breathing, I'll NEVER forget the immortal (and treasonous) words of Sen. Dick Durbin (Your seat mate, if memory serves) actually on the floor of the United States Senate... actually "supporting the Troops" by calling them Nazis.

So, tell us, Mr. President: How is it that you people could support the troops and do everything you could to make their mission fail; but we can't do the same with you?

What is it that causes the left to be such hypocrites? How is it that you and your kind can support the troops while you oppose their mission, but we cannot, somehow, support our country while we oppose YOU?

I just can't seem to recall you or any of the other fringe-left nutjobs doing everything you could to undermine our soldiers... destroy their morale... cut off their funding... having ANY problem not only HOPING that President Bush would fail... BUT doing EVERYTHING YOU COULD TO MAKE HIM FAIL... and all in the name of politics.

So tell me, Mr. President... tell US: you sold our soldiers out for power. They bled because of you and people like you. They died because of you and people like you. People like you strengthened and emboldened our enemies and doing that helped them to kill us.

Do you understand that, Mr. President?

You hoped that the very most important thing in the lives of hundreds of thousands of members of our Armed Forces and their families would fail, Mr. President. In fact, according to the scum leading the senate democrats, we had already lost the war, and the surge would be an abysmal failure. As I recall, that was the same kind of nonsense that, in your colossal ignorance... YOU were spouting.

I'm sure you were terribly disappointed that, like usual, democrat traitor Sen. Reid was wrong. That didn't stop him from hurting our soldiers, though...and out failure to hold him and those like him accountable for his treason will be our everlasting shame.

So tell us, Mr. President... tell us: why should we treat you any differently?

Why shouldn't we hope that you don't crash and burn? Why shouldn't we do everything we can to cause you to fail?

It's not like you haven't been making it easy. Your incompetence layered on incompetence doesn't move our concerns into the realm of science fiction. Your destruction of our economy... the Keystone Cops quality of your foreign policy is easily matched by that same quality on the domestic front.

So here is what *I* hope: I hope you fail... soon. I hope you're forced out of office... soon. And I hope our country survives your efforts. And I know that, unfortunately, none of those things are particularly likely.

So, this is the scenario: You're gonna stay in office a long time. Your incompetence will be protected by the media so invested in you. And you will hurt this country each and every damned day of it.

Just like you have so far.

Sigh.

Dear President Obama: Only a moron would "negotiate" with the Taliban. So what does that make you?

Mr. President, you have guided this country as if you've completely missed the "clue" train.

You've lied about pork and earmarks in our budget... appointed criminals to cabinet positions... lied about lobbyists in the White House... sent an idiot overseas to deal with Russia... done your best to sell out Poland on missile defense... and buried us in trillions of dollars of debt that will keep us buried for generations... lied to us about troop withdrawals from Iraq... and you've managed to screw THAT all up in a matter of weeks!

That puts you WAY ahead of Carter. It took him YEARS to screw this country up, and you've managed to do it in a matter of DAYS!

And NOW, you want to COMPOUND YOUR STUPIDITY by NEGOTIATING WITH THE TALIBAN?

You truly are a dangerous child when it comes to foreign policy. Hell, Mr. President... why don't you appoint your terrorist ally, Bill Ayers, as special envoy to the Taliban Terrorists that you SHOULD be doing everything you can to eradicate?

After all, it takes a terrorist to know a terrorist, and Ayers and the Taliban have a LOT in common. PLUS, he's one of your best buds! In fact, you could have him take that traitorous scumbag Wright with him to interpret!

WASHINGTON (AFP) — US President Barack Obama said, in an interview published Sunday, that the United States is not winning the war in Afghanistan and hinted at possible talks with moderate elements of the Taliban.

Highlighting the success of the US strategy of bringing some Sunni Iraqi insurgents to the negotiating table and away from Al-Qaeda, Obama told The New York Times that "there may be some comparable opportunities in Afghanistan and the Pakistani region."

The strategy in Iraq had been developed by General David Petraeus, then commander of US forces in the country.

"If you talk to General Petraeus, I think he would argue that part of the success in Iraq involved reaching out to people that we would consider to be Islamic fundamentalists, but who were willing to work with us because they had been completely alienated by the tactics of Al-Qaeda in Iraq," Obama said in the interview published in the online edition of the Times.

But Obama warned that Afghanistan was not Iraq, and that reconciliation efforts could face difficulties.

"The situation in Afghanistan is, if anything, more complex. You have a less governed region, a history of fierce independence among tribes. Those tribes are multiple and sometimes operate at cross purposes, so figuring all that out is going to be a much more of a challenge," he said.

But Afghan President Hamid Karzai said his government had long supported dialogue with those members of the Taliban, who are not connected with the "terrorists" waging an increasingly bloody insurgency in Afghanistan.

Dear President Obama: Are you lying to us about the troop drawdown in Iraq?

BLACKFIVE brings up a great question: are you scamming us on the drawdown?

He aims us at Greyhawk... and Greyhawk nails your lying butt to the wall:
Let's recap the salient points here:

1. In September, 2008, the 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT) - after months of preparation - is ordered to Iraq. (One of two SBCTs that were then scheduled to replace the two currently in Iraq)

2. In February, 2009, President Obama announces his Iraq drawdown/Afghanistan surge - the 5th SBCT will be diverted to Afghanistan instead of Iraq.

3. March, 2009, the DoD announces the 4th SBCT will deploy to Iraq this fall, several months ahead of the original schedule replacing the 5th SBCT in the rotation in order to maintain two Stryker Brigades in Iraq.

For the record, I'm in favor of commanders on the ground getting the forces they need to get the job done. I have no doubt that two Stryker Brigades are needed in Iraq, and others in Afghanistan.

I'm deeply concerned when I see troop rotations "adjusted" in what appears to be an
effort to fool the American public. But I appreciate that the Obama administration can do that in plain sight, even providing press releases detailing exactly how they're doing it.

I'm even more concerned that those efforts - and the ramifications thereof - are obvious to an American media assumed to be independent of the Executive Branch but apparently unconcerned about reporting its activities. Item two above was headline grabbing/TV news lead story material - item three indicates it was a fraud.

One year ago that would have been a hell of a story, don't you think?

Mr. President, many of us were born on a Saturday... but not LAST Saturday.

I've already warned you that your continued lies would damage this country... and now, your lies will directly damage the military, and screw with thousands of lives as you try and kow-tow to your fringe leftist masters.

This particular slight-of-hand makes me sick. And has others find out, it'll sicken them as well.

Dear President Obama: A crisis that YOU'RE making worse is a "time of great opportunity?"

Mr. President, your utter cluelessness never ceases to amaze.

We're in a "crisis," all right, and you're doing your damnedest to take every opportunity for advantage from the idiots that don't see you as you truly are, to remake America in your socialist image.

You ignorantly view the stock market as some kind of political poll; you're doing everything you can to rob those of us who've turned themselves into something out of nothing; you intend to slash Defense spending in the middle of a war; you're taking deliberate steps to cost millions of Americans their retirement and you're burying us under an entire mountain range of debt, all under the guise of your income redistribution plans.

You and your fellow leftists have done everything you can to talk down the economy so you could get elected. Now you've BEEN elected, and you can't stop yourself.

The Congressional Budget Office has determined that your actions have been harmful. What have you accomplished?

Arterial bleeding of our economy; major foreign policy screwups, corrupt cabinet choices, lies from your campaign...

Your are setting this country on an increasingly bleak course. Your obvious incompetence weakens the one critical element all leaders MUST have... and that is the confidence of those you are leading.

For many hiding in the midst of there self-delusion, your rock star personna has kept you high in the polls. But as your Carteresque incompetence grows... that will pass, and the reality of the huge con job that is you will begin to dawn on even your most ardent supporter.

The only question is this: will you have succeeded in destroying this country first?

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama on Saturday challenged his country to see its hard times as a chance to "discover great opportunity in the midst of great crisis."

"That is what we can do and must do today. And I am absolutely confident that is what we will do," Obama said in his weekly radio and video address, taped a day earlier at the White House.

The work week ended on more down news, with the report of 651,000 more American jobs slashed and an unemployment rate climbing to 8.1 percent. That is the highest rate of people out of work in more than 25 years, as the recession continued to put enormous pressures on families and industries.

Obama recapped the work of the latest hectic week in his young presidency. His goal was to reassure the country that he and his team are taking specific steps to create jobs in the short term and begin to address huge issues such as health care.
